Carols by Candlelight Sawtell 2017

Sing in the festive season at Sawtell Carols by Candlelight

On Thursday 21st December 2017, Christmas joy will again light up Sawtell Golf Club at the annual Carols by Candlelight.

This year marks the 12th anniversary of the Sawtell Uniting Church carols, a much-loved community event that marks the week leading up to Christmas.

Gates open from 6pm, with Santa arriving at 7.15pm to meet and greet the children. From 7.30pm, armed with songbooks and candles (available for purchase on the night), join in the carols and hear the Christmas story unfold, led by local singers and musicians.  This free event proudly brought to you by the Sawtell Uniting Church and the Sawtell Golf Club, is a family friendly opportunity to enjoy a BYO picnic with family and friends and join in the celebration in the beautiful grounds of Sawtell Golf Club. All funds raised on the night through songbook and candle sales will go directly to a local community group.

BYO blanket, chairs and picnic. Food and drink will also be available for purchase from the Golf Club (clubhouse or stalls near the stage). Parking will be available at the Club, with additional parking at Sawtell Oval, on Bayldon Road (opposite the Golf Club).

Follow the imagery below to help learn the Lotus movements

The Lotus

The Emperor comes to the pagoda at the edge of the water, and watches as a gentle breeze rustles the leaves

He looks down the lake, and sees a turtle treading water

Nearby  a snow rabbit is digging in the thawed earth

Across the lake a young maiden scoops up water, and sprinkles it on the earth

A lotus plant puts down its roots

and sends up a beautiful flower

The wise man in the village tests the wind in the east, and he tests the wind in the west

The Emperor lifts the sky

then presses the earth

he gathers energy from the earth

As he looks across the lake he sees a while crane spread its wings in the morning sun

The snow rabbit still digs the earth

A gentle breeze is rustling the leaves

and day has begun!
